Introducing the Famous Climatologist James E. Hansen

This is a photo of the famous climatologist and activist James E. Hansen. Famous climatologists are being attacked by bloggers backed by powerful energy interests whose operatives claim that global warming is a scientific hoax and a government conspiracy to steal our money and seize more power. The Climate Research Unit (CRU) at Britain's East Anglia University was even hacked, and selected stolen e-mails were posted on a computer in Tomsk, Siberia and then onto the sites of denialist bloggers. [Search Tomsk, CRU, Climategate, Phil Jones on this site and scroll down.]

Climatologists are even being attacked by moronic conspiracists such as John Costella of the 9-11 Truth Movement. I am not a scientist, but even I can see that the climate change denialist politicians such as Senator Inhofe and denialist bloggers such as James Delingpole are shamelesly mischaracterizing what the climate scientists are saying.

The denialist sites often spread anti-government conspiracies about flu shots and the anthrax mailings that are reminiscent of the KGB's mendacious "AIDS Made in America" propaganda campaign. That campaign, which the KGB termed Operation INFEKTION, was probably mounted by KGB officers in Washington D.C. or New York City.

Here are some British and American scientific sites that discuss global warming.

Updating the Climate Science: What Path is the Real World Following? [Makiko Sato and James E. Hansen]

According to his Wikipedia:

James E. Hansen (born March 29, 1941) heads the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City, a part of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, Earth Sciences Division. He has held this position since 1981. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University.

Dr. Hansen maintains a homepages at Columbia University and at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

His Columbia homepage notes:

Drs. Makiko Sato and James Hansen are constructing a webpage, Updating the Climate Science: What Path is the Real World Following? In addition to updating figures in [Hansen's] book Storms of My Grandchildren (see LA Times review), this page will present updated graphs and discussion of key quantities that help provide understanding of how climate change is developing and how effective or ineffective global actions are in affecting climate forcings and future climate change. A few errata in Storms are also provided on the "Update" webpage.
