Weather Underground Terrorist Bernardine Dohrn Sued for Driving Recklessly and Striking a Pedestrian

The Chicago Sun-Times (5-21-10) reports:

Former Weather Underground activist Bernardine Dohrn allegedly hit a pedestrian in a Southwest Side crosswalk earlier this year while driving recklessly and at a dangerous speed, according to a lawsuit filed this week.

Dohrn, the wife of fellow former 1960s radical Bill Ayers, is named in a personal injury lawsuit filed by Maricela Canuto in Cook County Circuit Court Thursday.

Dohrn was driving a 2005 Buick LaCrosse westbound on West 55th Street at 7:50 p.m. on Feb. 28 when she struck Canuto at the intersection of West 55th Street and South Christiana Avenue, the suit charges.

Dohrn was driving recklessly and at “dangerous and excessive rate of speed,” according to the suit, which seeks at least $50,000 in damages.

No one answered the telephone at Dohrn’s Hyde Park home Friday night.

During the last presidential campaign, conservative talk show hosts branded Dohrn and Ayers “domestic terrorists” because of their radical past and tried to exploit their ties to Barack Obama.

Ayers and Obama served on boards together, and the couple hosted a reception for Obama when he ran for the state Senate in 1995.
